Rinku Deswal – Principal
Rinku Deswal is a lawyer and the owner of RD Law Professional Corporation, a law firm located in downtown Mississauga with a second office in Toronto. Rinku was called to the Ontario Bar in 2004. Before her career in law, Rinku completed her Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Chicago, Illinois, and her undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto. Rinku obtained her law degree from the University of New Brunswick.
Prior to starting her own firm, Rinku practiced law at multi-faceted civil litigation law firms in downtown Toronto with a focus on civil litigation, most notably in aviation law. Rinku has represented air carriers and other participants in the aviation industry in litigation, as well as in regulatory matters before the Canadian Transportation Agency.
At RD Law Professional Corporation, Rinku continues her litigation practice, with a focus on a wide range of litigation matters, most notably civil litigation, aviation and family law. She is also general counsel to a number of businesses in the Greater Toronto Area, where her focus is on risk management issues. Rinku has appeared before the trial courts of Ontario and tribunals on various types of matters.
During her significant years of legal practice and experience, Rinku has been invited to speak at various forums, including the Law Society of Ontario, BAR Canada (Board of Airline Representatives in Canada) and the Mississauga Board of Trade. Rinku has also been invited to speak at corporate and legal events locally as well as internationally on topics focused on Women Leadership, Women in the Workplace, as well as Equity and Inclusion.
Rinku actively participates in and contribute to various community organizations and charitable causes. Rinku has served as Chair for Peel Crime Stoppers, an organization that works in collaboration with Peel Regional Police to promote education and awareness towards crime prevention. Rinku has also been a part of the Board of Directors for organizations such as St. John Ambulance (Peel) and Victim Services of Peel. Rinku currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Home Construction Regulatory Board of Ontario. Rinku has and continues to be invited as a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Law – University of New Brunswick.
Rinku has been the recipient of the Women Achievers Canada award for Legal Entrepreneur, as well as for Business Development & Growth from the organization Brilliant Minded Women. Rinku has also been awarded the Safe City Mississauga Bell Hero Award for her work in crime prevention in the Region of Peel, as well as the ‘Challenge Coin’ from Peel Regional Police Chief Jennifer Evans for outstanding performance and excellence.
