Peter Welsh

Mr. Welsh is Of Counsel to RD Law Professional Corporation. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from McMaster University in 1969. He then obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick in 1972. He was called to the Bar of New Brunswick in 1973 and the Bar of Ontario in 1977. Peter received his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario in 1975. He joined RD Law as counsel in 2009.

For over 30 years, Peter R. Welsh has practiced Corporate and Commercial Law both on behalf of some of Canada’s largest financial institutions, real estate developers and publicly listed Corporations as well as in representation of entrepreneurial, owner-managed companies, independent businesses, associations and individuals.His practice is devoted to Business Law, encompassing business start up, financial services, real estate, succession and estate planning, restructuring and commercial transactions.

Peter’s particular focus is the business side of law, devising preventative strategies and solutions to avoid or lessen risk, resolve crises and achieve management and corporate objectives.

Peter’s diverse background includes assignments in the public sector as a Special Advisor to the      Ministry of Consumer and Corporate Affairs, Canada and in industry as Associate General Counsel of one of Canada’s largest real estate developers. He has also lectured in business law at two colleges and published material on franchise law, corporate governance and directors’ and officers’ liabilities.
